Dear First
Lady,
We would
like to congratulate you in your Let’s Move program which
will “ give parents the support they need, provide healthier
food in schools, help our kids to be more physically
active, and make healthy, affordable food available in every
part of our country”. We also feel that it important to
start young in molding good habits that will last a
lifetime.
Sadly, there
are so many children and adults that due to the
unavailability of
healthy food
or a sedentary lifestyle are prone to develop various
ailments and illnesses.
Acupuncture
is a low cost approach to help these people. Acupuncture
treatments can be performed on those that cannot tolerate
certain medications, have a litany of ailments and
illnesses, have nausea after surgery, for
pain management
and can be used to increase metabolism for
weight reduction.
These
treatments should be covered by Medicare and all other
insurances.
Since 1993,
a number of bills titled Federal
Acupuncture Coverage Act had
been brought to and have died in committee. H.R. 646
introduced on
January 22,
2009 and referred to the Committee of House Oversight and
Government Reform. There has been no movement on this bill.
Due to special interest groups it has been impossible to
pass this bill. Therefore, we respectfully ask that you
support our request that President Obama sign an executive
order to provide full coverage through Medicare and all
other insurances for individuals that require acupuncture
treatment.
